Australian viewers will get to see the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama in her highly anticipated, final one-on-one interview with Oprah Winfrey this month. First Lady Michelle Obama Says Farewell to the White House: An Oprah Winfrey Special will premiere Sunday 15 January at 8.30pm AEDT, exclusive to TLC, the home of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

Over the course of the hour-long interview, the First Lady and Oprah cover a wide range of topics; reflecting on her eight years as First Lady on the world stage, her accomplishments in the White House, the legacy she and her husband President Barack Obama leave behind, plus she discusses her plans for the future.

In the candid interview, Michelle Obama opens up for the first time publicly about the 2016 presidential campaign. Admitting that it was challenging for her as a citizen to watch and experience, she maintains that the Obamas will support President-elect Donald Trump’s ongoing transition to the White House and beyond as it’s what’s best for the country. However she says the election had reinforced her view that her husband’s administration was able to inspire hope, and that it was more than just a campaign slogan to gain votes.

President Barack Obama makes an appearance as well, discussing what surprised him about how his wife filled the role of First Lady. Finally, Michelle Obama shares her thoughts on her own political career – amid speculation about the family’s future and calls from supporters for her to run for office.
