Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery

Lies, betrayal, and murder all lie at the centre of a case which shocked the US and the world. Almost ten years on, the question at the heart of it all remains unanswered; what really happened to two-year-old Caylee Anthony? In a special three-night television event beginning Saturday 15 July at 7.30pm AEST on TLC, Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery rips open the explosive case to re-examine every angle of this heartbreaking investigation.

On July 15, 2008, Orlando police dispatchers receive a bizarre and stunning 911 call. The caller, Cindy Anthony, is hysterical; her granddaughter has been missing for more than a month. Desperate to locate two-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony, police begin an intense investigation that is plagued by falsehood and fabrication by one of the key players in the case: Caylee’s own 22-year-old mother, Casey.

Having woven herself into an intricate web of lies, all signs point to Casey as the obvious suspect. Nicknamed the most hated woman in America, Casey Anthony was ultimately acquitted of murder – a shocking verdict that sparked outrage across the world.

Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery is a comprehensive, 360-degree look into the investigation and subsequent 2011 trial of Casey Anthony for the murder of Caylee. This eye-opening series features new evidence, insight from those closest to the Anthony family and never-before-seen footage of Casey.

Exclusive interviews include Caylee’s grandparents, Cindy and George Anthony, who offer a unique look into the inner-working of the Anthony family and how the trial of Casey still haunts them today; Clint House, a former close friend and confidant of Casey’s; Belvin Perry, Jr., the judge who presided over Casey’s trial; Russ Huekler, an alternate juror who, among the other jurors, faced public scrutiny for their decision to acquit Casey; and Kevin Beary, the former Orange County Sheriff who first investigated the case.

Other individuals interviewed include Brad Conway, former attorney for George and Cindy Anthony; Jane Velez-Mitchell and Diane Dimond, both crime reporters and TV journalists who covered the trial from the ground; and other key investigators and legal experts who worked closely on the case.
